Belly up to the bar --

Maybe those trees are about 70-yrs old, vintage
'20s thru 1932.  If that is the case, perhaps they
marked the escape route for the moonshiners
as the Feds came prowling around.

Or, markers for mules to carry out the goods.

Just a guess . . . sort of a 'White Lightening' thing!
